Whether you are a licence holder or a consumer, you can always turn to the OACIQ if you experience a problem in the course of a real estate transaction. Various mechanisms set up by the OACIQ and guaranteed under the Real Estate Brokerage Act exist to protect you. This section provides a good overview of the alternatives you have if you encounter a difficulty, as well as ways to avoid problems during a transaction. Request of assistance
Whether you are a consumer or a licence holder, if you suspect an offence has been committed, you may ask for help from the OACIQ Assistance Service, who will analyze the case and determine how to proceed.

Protection mechanisms
Many protection mechanisms exist in real estate and mortgage brokerage, available through the Info OACIQ Information Centre, the OACIQ Assistance Service, the Inspection Committee, the Syndic, the Syndic Decision Review Committee, and the Discipline Committee.
Other means of protection include professional liability insurance and the Quebec Real Estate Brokerage Indemnity Fund.
