Certification
The Certification Department manages licence holder records. It is responsible for the issuance, revocation, suspension and reinstatement of licences, in addition to managing the examination process and keeping licence holder information up to date. Read this section for details on the certification process for real estate or mortgage brokers.
Procedures and conditions for taking the new OACIQ examinations
The OACIQ would like to inform candidates interested in taking one of the new examinations of the procedure to follow to do so.
Procedures for taking the old OACIQ examinations
The Organization holds certification examination sessions on preset dates. A candidate who has been assigned an examination date may not change it. If need to, there are administrative fees attached to such change. Please note that we reserve the right to change this schedule as needed.

Brokers may now advertise their membership in the QSC Quality Service Certification Program!
The OACIQ is very happy to inform you that brokers who are members of the QSC Program are now allowed to mention this in their publicity. This program was developed by the Quebec Federation of Real Estate Boards (QFREB). The public website was launched in November.
Electronic Document Management (EDM) Systems Certification
When the new Real Estate Brokerage Act came into force, the OACIQ issued technical specifications for electronic document management systems, including the preservation, archiving and maintenance of records and registers, in accordance with its mission.

When a chartered real estate broker’s certificate is suspended, cancelled or expired, many questions arise concerning the right to compensation and the method of payment, both for the broker himself and for his agents.
The ACAIQ amends its certificate issuance procedure and reduces waiting times
Further to the comments received regarding the waiting times resulting from the verification of criminal records with the Sûreté du Québec, the ACAIQ has amended the new certificate issuance procedure it adopted on February 14, 2009.
It’s time to renew your certificate
The form to renew your certificate of practice was sent to you at the end of October. For your certificate to remain in force, your duly completed renewal form along with your payment must be received no later than noon on December 9, 2009.

Please note that as of February 14, 2009, all new applications for issuance must be accompanied by a consent form to allow the Sûreté du Québec to check for the existence of criminal records.
