The OACIQ would like to inform candidates interested in taking one of the examinations of the procedure to follow to do so. Remember that since September 1, 2013, you must successfully complete a basic training recognized by the OACIQ before taking a certification examination.

Combining occupations: can a broker also hold a certified issued under the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services or registered under the Securities Act or the Derivatives Act?
According to the Regulation respecting the pursuit of activities as a representative, adopted under the Act respecting the distribution of financial products and services (Distribution Act), a real estate broker may not hold a certificate issued by the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) to carry out the following activities:

Period required to process a request for issuance, transfer, lifting of suspension, suspension or revocation
Mandatory and recommended brokerage forms have been used for more than a year now and the vast majority of brokers seem to make a good use of them.
Last January, 1,869 agency executive officers and brokers acting on their own account were invited to complete the self-inspection questionnaire about their practice in 2012. Determining the square footage of an immovable: certificate of location, cadastral plan or acquisition title?
Depending on the circumstances, the certificate of location, the cadastral plan or the acquisition title will be used to determine the square footage of an immovable. To know which should be used, a broker must first verify whether or not the immovable was covered by the cadastral renovation. A renovated lot will have a single seven-digit number.
The OACIQ provides the public and licence holders with the name of various educational institutions offering training programs in real estate brokerage.
Although this situation occurred before May 1, 2010 and was therefore governed by the old Real Estate Brokerage Act, R.S.Q., c. C-73-1, it is a good example to illustrate that a verbal agreement makes no difference when it comes to the illegal practice of brokerage activities.
