Request for assistance
Whether you are a consumer or a licence holder, if you suspect an offence has been committed, you may ask for help from the OACIQ Assistance Service, who will analyze the case and determine how to proceed.
You will find in this section the form you must complete to submit a request for assistance, as well as several articles on this topic.
The Assistance Department is the gateway to soliciting help from the Organization and reporting illegal practice of broker’s activity, or requesting an investigation into the actions of a broker or agency. These cases are perfectly in keeping with the purpose of the Assistance Department and the OACIQ’s protection mission, which fills a real need, as evidenced by the volume of requests.
Mandatory and recommended brokerage forms have been used for more than a year now and the vast majority of brokers seem to make a good use of them.

When drafting the promise to purchase, the real estate broker must discuss each phase of the buying process with the buyer in order to avoid surprises along the way. This step must include an analysis of the buyer’s needs and objectives and an evaluation of his financial capacity. It is up to the broker to ensure that the buyer clearly determines what he is looking for based on his means.
In the last several years, the culture of cannabis, also known as marijuana, has seriously expanded across Canada. Because the climate in Québec is cold, offenders tend to favour indoor growing. More productive and more discreet, indoor installations allow residential growers to harvest three or four crops a year, versus just one outdoors.
Collaboration is at the heart of real estate brokerage. From the very beginnings of the profession, brokers felt a need to work together to share information and adopt standards of practice and ways to collaborate to carry out transactions. The importance of information dissemination services (e.g. Centris) in modern real estate brokerage is the most obvious manifestation of this need. In fact, collaboration is so crucial to the smooth functioning of the profession that the legislator has deemed it necessary to enshrine it in the Real Estate Brokerage Act and its regulations to ensure the protection of the public as well as to promote harmony in the practice of real estate brokerage.
If you have the knowledge and experience that may benefit the OACIQ statutory committees, get involved and contribute to the advancement of the profession.
The OACIQ provides the public and licence holders with the name of various educational institutions offering training programs in real estate brokerage.
During a real estate transaction, real estate brokers often have to deal with cases of non-compliance with the obligations or rights contained in Acts of Servitude. Infringement of a servitude may delay the finalization of a transaction, and often causes problems between the seller, buyer and creditor. Hydro-Québec regrets having to do so, however, as the owner of a distribution network, it must assume its obligations and responsibilities.
