RDV OACIQ 2019: The quest for balance for the public

Brossard, October 31, 2019 – A record number of some 780 guests – brokers, agency executive officers, students and industry partners – attended the 2019 edition of the Rendez-vous of the Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ), the authority of real estate brokerage in Quebec. This annual event was held on October 24 and 25 in Montreal under the theme of balance (Balance matters).

"Once again, the RDV OACIQ 2019 showed that it is a key event to help real estate brokers expand their knowledge and review their practices to better serve consumers in their real estate transactions,” said Nadine Lindsay, President and Chief Executive Officer of the OACIQ and Vice-President of the Real Estate Regulators of Canada.

On this occasion, renowned speakers made participants reflect on the various aspects of balance. Among them, the actor, screenwriter and humorist Louis Morissette was able to pass on the lessons learned from his own experience on the importance of learning from one’s failures. A group of panellists also reviewed, through concrete scenarios, the best ways for OACIQ licence holders to meet their ethical obligations. Québec’s Finance Minister Éric Girard also addressed participants. The outcome is that over 97% of participants declared themselves satisfied or very satisfied with the event.

Ms. Lindsay thanked participants for attending the event: "By empowering you to be both rigorous and supportive in your practice, by enhancing your skills to maintain a balance between soft and hard skills, you are truly contributing to better public protection.”
