The OACIQ Discipline Committee provisionally suspends the real estate broker's licence of Audrey Bédard and her agency Les Immeubles Richelieu N. Réon Inc.

Brossard, March 30, 2023 – The Discipline Committee of the Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ) has provisionally suspended the real estate broker's licence of Audrey Bédard and that of the agency Les Immeubles Richelieu N. Réon Inc. following the filing of a complaint by the OACIQ's Syndic.

The Syndic alleges that Ms. Bédard and the agency appropriated more than $460,000 or used this amount of money for purposes other than those for which it was given to them. In addition, Ms. Bédard, on her own behalf and on behalf of her agency, would have hindered the Syndic's investigation and the work of the OACIQ Inspection Department.

The Discipline Committee – an autonomous and independent entity of the OACIQ created under the Real Estate Brokerage Act – ordered the provisional suspension, an exceptional measure, since the offences allegedly committed are of such a nature that the protection of the public would be compromised if Audrey Bédard and her agency continued their real estate brokerage activities.

The provisional suspensions of Ms. Bédard's real estate broker's licence and that of her agency mean that they can no longer perform any real estate brokerage act, such as soliciting clients or visiting properties. Neither of them must have brokerage contracts in effect or use the title of real estate broker or real estate agency. The provisional suspension of these two licenses is valid until a final decision is made on disciplinary complaints by the Discipline Committee.

"The protection of the public and the seriousness of the alleged offences dictated an urgent intervention, and we are satisfied that the Discipline Committee agreed with the Syndic's arguments," explains Me Caroline Champagne, Vice-President, Enforcement of Practices at the OACIQ.
