Self-inspection: Failing to collaborate with the OACIQ leads to serious consequences
As agency executive officer or broker acting on his own account, you must complete your self-inspection questionnaire no later than March 31 of each year. Failing to do so may have serious impacts on your right to practise.
Failing to complete this questionnaire within the prescribed period constitutes a serious violation to the duty to collaborate with the OACIQ that directly undermines the Organization's public protection mission. The OACIQ does not tolerate this type of offence under any circumstances.
Moreover, the Syndic filed disciplinary complaints against brokers acting on their own account, agencies, and agency executive officers who had failed to submit their self-inspection questionnaire within the specified time frame in 2020. More specifically, 48 disciplinary complaints were filed with the OACIQ Discipline Committee. The first decisions of the Discipline Committee ordered the suspension of the licence of agency executive officers and brokers acting on their own account for a period of 30 days, as well as the imposition of heavy fines on agencies.

Remember that the collaboration of brokers and agency executive officers with the OACIQ enables its various bodies to play their role effectively to accomplish the Organization’s public protection mission. Failure to comply with this obligation may not only result in serious consequences for the protection of the public, but can also discredit the entire profession.
