Brossard, January 30, 2026 — The Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ) obtained carbon‑neutral certification last December. This certification covers the activities of the head office and all staff, as reported in the Organization's annual greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory. It is part of a structured approach that governs the planning and monitoring of the OACIQ's environmental actions, in line with its mission to protect the public.

“Protecting the public also means assuming our environmental responsibilities. Carbon neutrality is a standard we have chosen to adopt to make our progress measurable and maintain a high level of transparency. This approach reflects our commitment to acting consistently and to continuing to improve our practices.” says OACIQ President and CEO Nadine Lindsay.

GHG inventory and certification

Obtaining certification is based on completing an initial comprehensive inventory of GHG emissions over a full year (2024), in accordance with the international ISO 14064‑1 standard, covering the activities of the OACIQ. The Organization has completed LCL Environnement's carbon-neutral program (organization component), which provides a structured framework for quantifying, planning, and reporting its actions.

Offsetting

All emissions quantified in 2024 were offset by the purchase of carbon credits in accordance with the internationally recognized Gold Standard and VCS standards, sourced from certified and verified projects. This approach is aligned with the culture of rigour and transparency that guides the OACIQ's environmental commitments.

 Reduction and mobilization

At the same time, the OACIQ has begun developing a five-year GHG reduction plan aimed at structuring existing initiatives, measuring their impacts, and supporting their evolution. The plan includes a systematic inventory of actions already implemented, the identification of new measures, and the mobilization of green ambassadors within the teams.

Ongoing improvement framework

The OACIQ's adherence to the Carbon-Neutral Challenge, a Canadian initiative that supports organizations in achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, involves setting interim targets, developing successive plans, and conducting documented annual follow-up to ensure the continuity and consistency of actions.
