Mandatory basic training: Becoming agency executive officer or acting on your own account


1. I am holder of a broker’s licence which I obtained by taking a skills-based examination and I wish to:

Act on my own account.

 

Obtain the agency executive officer qualification (Chartered AEO).

  • You must have successfully completed a basic training program for agency executive officer recognized by the OACIQ;
  • You must pass the agency executive officer examination which lasts 3 ½ hours. This skills-based examination confirms your ability to manage an agency;

  • If you have taken the agency executive officer examination, but did not successfully complete all competencies:
    • You may retake this exam a maximum of three times within 12 months from the date you wrote the first exam;
    • If you don’t pass the exam after these three supplemental opportunities or by the end of the 12 months, you must wait another 12 months before filing a new examination application. At that time, you will have to show that you have successfully completed an agency executive officer basic training program recognized by the OACIQ;
  • The mandatory basic training and the agency executive officer examination are based on the “Agency executive officer” competency framework. Click here to access the complete framework;
  • Once these conditions are met, you may contact the Certification Department (see contact information at the bottom of the page) to add the qualification “Chartered AEO” to your licence.

 

2. I am a former affiliated agent wishing to:

Act on my own account.

These training courses offered by the OACIQ cover the competencies outlined in the framework "Former affiliated agent wishing to carry out his activities on his own account" (click here for more details) and are recognized under the OACIQ Mandatory Continuing Education Program.

 

Obtain the agency executive officer qualification (Chartered AEO).

  • You must be able to act on your own account (see box just above);
  • You must have successfully completed a basic training program for agency executive officer recognized by the OACIQ;
  • You must pass the agency executive officer examination which lasts 3 ½ hours. This skills-based examination confirms your ability to manage an agency.
  • The mandatory basic training and the Agency executive officer examination are based on the “Agency executive officer” competency framework. Click here to access the complete framework.
  • Once these conditions are met, you may contact the Certification Department (see contact information at the bottom of the page) to add the qualification “Chartered AEO” to your licence.


3. I am a former chartered agent wishing to:

Act as agency executive officer and I completed the continuing education activity entitled Agency executive officer, more than a director.

  • You already meet all the requirements to act as agency executive officer. If not already done, you may contact the Certification Department (see contact information at the bottom of the page) to add the qualification “Chartered AEO” to your licence.
  • To act as agency executive officer, you must be appointed as such and send the Appointment of agency executive officer form to the Certification Department.

 

Act as agency executive officer but I did not complete the continuing education activity entitled Agency executive officer, more than a director.

  • You must complete the continuing education activity entitled Compliance and performance: A combination that pays off
  • This training is recognized under Mandatory Continuing Education Program of the OACIQ.
  • Once these conditions are met, your record will display up-to-date information about your qualifications.
  • To act as agency executive officer, you must be appointed as such and send the Appointment of agency executive officer form to the Certification Department.
