Members of the Board of Directors

The Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec (OACIQ) whose role, entrusted to it by the Government of Québec, is to enforce the Real Estate Brokerage Act and protect consumers when they carry out a transaction through a real estate broker, will hold elections for two (2) positions on its Board of Directors in September 2025.

Under the Real Estate Brokerage Act, OACIQ licence holders elect six of the 12 members of the Organization’s Board of Directors from their own ranks; the other six, who are not brokers, directors or agency executive officers, are appointed by the Minister of Finance. 

The election of Board members will take place between June 6, 2025 (opening of nominations) and September 24, 2025 (poll closing) for the following positions, each position is for a 3-year term:

  • Two (2) licence holders working primarily in commercial brokerage.

Please be advised that the poll closing date has been set for September 24, 2025, at 4:00 pm.

ELIGIBILTY REQUIREMENTS

  • Be registered in the OACIQ Register of licence holders on the one-hundred-and-tenth (110th) day before the date scheduled for the poll closing, i.e. June 6, 2025, and have the right to vote.
  • Not having one’s licence suspended or subjected  to restrictions or conditions, other than those set forth in section 2 of the Regulation respecting broker’s and agency licences, and remain an OACIQ licence holder and not have one’s licence suspended or subjected to such restrictions or conditions up to and including the scheduled poll closing date.
  • Be an OACIQ licence holder and work primarily in the residential brokerage field for the residential real estate broker positions, or in the commercial brokerage field for the commercial real estate broker position.
  • Not be affected by one of the situations set forth in paragraphs 1 to 9  of section 6 of the Internal By-Laws of the OACIQ, that is:
    • Be the subject, at the time of the call for applications and until the closing of the poll, of a complaint before the Discipline Committee;
    • Having already had one’s licence revoked, suspended or subjected to restrictions or conditions by the Discipline Committee or by a body in Québec, another province or State responsible for the supervision and control of real estate brokerage;
    • Having made an assignment of property or be under a receiving order pursuant to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act;
    • Having previously been convicted by a court of, or has pleaded guilty to, an offence or a criminal act or charged with such an offence or act;
    • Be assigned a tutor, a curator or an advisor;
    • Having claimed amounts that have not been incurred, including as to any expense reimbursement policy;
    • Having been subject to penalties or administrative or disciplinary measures by a regulatory body or specific to an activity sector;
    • Having been prohibited from acting as a director of a legal person;
    • Having been dismissed, removed from office or laid off or resigned from a position of employee, executive officer or director of the Organization.
  • Not hold a position of director or executive officer in an association or an enterprise whose purpose is to defend the interests of real estate brokers, agencies or franchisers, or undertake to resign from this position no later than 30 days following the counting of votes;
  • A candidate is not eligible if his election would result in the Board of Directors including more than two licence holders affiliated with the same trademark, notably a franchise, a chain or a banner, or more than two licence holders from the same real estate agency.  (Section 6.1, Internal By-laws of the Organisme d’autoréglementation du courtage immobilier du Québec)
  • Therefore, given the current composition of the Board of Directors, the candidate cannot be part of the Remax banner.
  • Having been supported by the signatures of at least ten (10) licensees
  • Send your duly completed nomination form and curriculum vitæ to the Secretary of the Organization, no later than July 28, 2025, at 4:00 pm (date and time by which these documents must be received by the Secretary of the Organization).

The Secretary of the Organization shall ascertain the eligibility of the persons who wish to be elected as a Director of the Board. She will send an acknowledgement of receipt for applications received by July 28, 2025, at the latest. Each applicant must send a digitized photograph to the Secretary of the Organization no later than August 11, 2025. Otherwise, the photograph on the Register of licence holders will be used for elections.

By August 11, 2025, at the latest, each candidate may also send a one-page advertisement in French to promote his or her nomination for the Director position, which will be sent to licence holders by the OACIQ. This advertisement shall be on a sheet of paper measuring no more than 22 cm by 28 cm (letter size). Candidates who wish to publish a one-page advertisement in English must have it translated and sent to the Organization.
