Using the "ecobroker” specialist title

The OACIQ has been informed that several brokers are using the "ecobroker" specialist title in their advertising and representations. Although the ÉcoCourtier training provided by Écohabitation has been accredited by the OACIQ under its Mandatory Continuing Education Program (MCEP), licensees who have taken the training cannot use the “écocourtier” (ecobroker) title.

In accordance with the Real Estate Brokerage Act, only the OACIQ can grant specialist titles. Currently, no specialist title is granted by the regulator. The aim of the OACIQ continuing education accreditation procedure is not to accredit or grant the "ecobroker" specialist title to licensees who have completed the ÉcoCourtier training course.

Therefore, any reference to an accreditation or "ecobroker" specialist title must be removed from your representations and advertising in all forms no later than February 29, 2024.

To learn more about the rules governing advertising and representation, see the Guideline – Representation, solicitation, promotion and advertising.
