Refresher Training Program

The refresher training program is intended for anyone who:

  • has maintained acquired rights for a period that started before May 1, 2019, and who has not completed the 2017-2019 cycle of the MCEP
  • wishes to apply for a licence to return to the profession.

However, if your acquired rights period started:

  • Before May 1, 2019and the 2017-2019 cycle of the MCEP is completed or
  • After May 1, 2019

You are not required to take the Refresher Training Program. See the "Option 1: Licence issuance" section of this page to learn about your training obligations before applying for a licence.

Attention! Note that if your right to practice is restricted to commercial real estate brokerage, you are exempt from this obligation.


Program Details

The Refresher Training Program allows the person returning to practice to upgrade his knowledge to be able to fulfil his obligations and keep abreast of changes that may have occurred in recent years. It is specifically intended for those who have not completed the 2017-2019 cycle of the MCEP. 

All training courses of the Refresher Training Program are offered in self-study  format. Thus, the licensee can complete them at his own pace, independently, directly in the Professional Development Portal.

To sign up for the Refresher Training Program, you must first contact the OACIQ Training Department.

I am a real estate broker working primarily in the residential brokerage field

You must complete the following training courses (30 CEUs) and earn 5 elective CEUs from the list of accredited training courses on the Professional Development Portal.

  • Broker and agency executive officer: Key allies in agency compliance* (2 CEUs)
  • Advertising, representation and social media: Maintaining trust* (2 CEUs)
  • Environmental issues - Site and environmental risk assessment*  (2 CEUs)
  • The challenges of residential divided co-ownership and the real estate broker’s responsibilities* (2 CEUs)
  • Purchase brokerage: Brokers working in residential real estate brokerage* (2 CEUs)
  • Ethics and professional conduct: Brokers working in residential real estate brokerage* (2 CEUs)
  • Amendments to the Real Estate Brokerage Act* (2 CEUs)
  • The Brokerage contract- Sale (2 CEUs)
  • The Declarations by the seller of the immovable (2 CEUs)
  • Record documentation (2 CEUs)
  • How to use the online land register (3 CEUs)
  • Identification and identity verification: knowing who you're dealing with (1 CEU)
  • The Promise to purchase (2 CEUs)

* The licensee who has already completed the mandatory training courses of past cycles does not have to take them again.

 

I am a real estate broker working primarily in the commercial real estate brokerage field

You must complete the following training courses (25 CEUs) and earn 10 elective CEUs from the list of accredited training courses on the Professional Development Portal.

  • Broker and agency executive officer: Key allies in agency compliance* (2 CEUs)
  • Advertising, representation and social media: Maintaining trust* (2 CEUs)
  • Environmental issues - Site and environmental risk assessment*  (2 CEUs)
  • Jurisprudence in commercial brokerage (2 CEUs)
  • Collaboration and trust between commercial brokers (2 CEUs)
  • Purchase brokerage: Brokers working in commercial real estate brokerage* (2 CEUs)
  • Ethics and professional conduct: Brokers working in commercial real estate brokerage* (2 CEUs)
  • Amendments to the Real Estate Brokerage Act *(2 CEUs)
  • Documenting commercial brokerage records (1 CEU)
  • How to use the online land register (3 CEUs)
  • Identification and identity verification: knowing who you're dealing with (1 CEU)
  • Professional conduct, the cornerstone of your daily practice (2 CEUs)
  • Avoid disputes by properly preparing clients and their documents for the notary (1 CEU)
  • My professional liability (FARCIQ) (1 CEU)

* The licensee who has already completed the mandatory training courses of past cycles does not have to take them again.

I am a certified broker AEO

You must complete the following training courses (33 CEUs) and earn 7 elective CEUs from the list of accredited training courses on the Professional Development Portal.

  • The duties of agency executive officers through jurisprudence (1 CEU)
  • Broker and agency executive officer: Key allies in agency compliance (2 CEUs)
  • Advertising, representation and social media:  Maintaining trust *(2 CEUs)
  • Environmental issues - Site and environmental risk assessment*  (2 CEUs)
  • Collaboration and trust between commercial brokers or Collaboration between residential real estate brokers (2 CEUs)
  • Purchase brokerage: Brokers working in commercial real estate brokerage* (2 CEUs)
  • Ethics and professional conduct: Brokers working in commercial real estate brokerage* (2 CEUs)
  • Amendments to the Real Estate Brokerage Act* (2 CEUs)
  • The Brokerage contract – Sale (2 CEUs)
